Soil Management

Overview

Soil Management Plans (SMPs) are common practice at construction/development sites with ongoing soil and/or groundwater contamination. A SMP details soil excavation, handling, storage, transportation, and disposal procedures, if applicable; and will include a description of any engineering controls and/or air monitoring procedures necessary to ensure that workers and other receptors in the vicinity of the soil disturbance are not affected by fugitive dust or particulates. The SMP will include a Health and Safety Plan (HASP) and detail any applicable DEP or EPA regulatory requirements.  IES has developed and implemented countless SMPs for projects throughout Massachusetts, before, during and after construction, including Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) sites with Activity and Use Limitations (AULs).  We work with our clients to ensure that their SMPs and associated construction projects are managed in the most cost and time effective manner possible.
